We adore breakfast in our house, It’s very common for us to have breakfast for dinner a couple of times each month, and I always look forward to Saturday mornings when we have the chance to sit down for breakfast together. Pancakes very often have a starring role in our breakfasts, so it only seems fitting that they get some time in the spotlight for Tasty Ten Tuesday.
My first attempt at making pancakes soon after Brian and I married was a complete and utter failure. I didn’t have the heat high enough, the batter stuck to the pan like crazy, and we ended up with little bits of pancake piled on the plate. Thankfully I’ve figured it out over time and it’s even tradition to make pancakes in special shapes (like a “5″ for Colin turning five earlier this year) for the kids’ birthdays.
Of course, we’ve also ventured away from the standard buttermilk pancakes, and that’s in large part to the discovery of Kerbey Lane Cafe in Austin, Texas. They feature new recipes each week, and their lemon poppyseed pancakes are my absolute favorite.
